We are looking for one or two exceptional chefs to join our Preferred Chef program.
About Homemade Today
Chef Mary Kernan started Homemade Today in 2002 as a way to blend her 20 years of business experience with her love of all things food. Today, Homemade Today and its Preferred Chefs are serving dozens of clients all over the Boston area and as far west as route 495. Together, we have built the business and now customers waiting for a chef to cook for them.
Preferred Chef Program
The Preferred Chef program has been running since 2007. This is a great business opportunity for someone who:
- Is highly motivated and works well independently
- Has excellent cooking skills
- Has good social skills
- Knows how to provide a high level of customer service
There are no up front fees and no long-term contracts (you are not locked in)
We'll provide you with:
- Clients
- Menus
- Recipes
- Operating Manual
- Document Templates
- Label files
- Equipment List
We'll also train you. We assume that you already possess great cooking skills, and we'll provide you with one-on-one training to make sure that you are comfortable with the Homemade Today methodology.
You will need:
- Car and valid drivers license
- Cookware and knives
- Personal computer (Windows) and printer
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- MasterCook
- Dymo Label printer
- Liability insurance (we can help you obtain this at low cost)
The Homemade Today marketing program generates qualified leads and clients through:
- Advertising
- Web presence
- Word of mouth
- Referrals
- Third party sources such as concierge service providers
In addition, the Preferred Chef program offers you:
- Personal chef clients
- Referrals for catering and other food-related services
- Backup for absences and vacations
- Opportunity to fill in for other chefs
- Support for your business
You pay a royalty for the client only as you provide the services. There are no up front fees and the royalty decreases the longer you cook for a client.
We have a very high-end clientele and are looking for an exceptional individual who possesses the following skills:
- Culinary degree from an accredited institution and/or at least 3 years of professional experience in the culinary field
- Basic knowledge of nutrition. Ability to make substitutions for clients with food sensitivities or allergies.
- Proficiency with MS Windows, Word and Excel. Proficiency in MasterCook is a plus.
- References, neat appearance, the ability to work independently, and a strong sense of customer service.
